The present invention provides a composition comprising amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) and stabilizing at least one of the amorphous forms of phosphorylated amino acids and phosphorylated peptides of the calcium carbonate. In particular, the peptide may be selected from a crustacean protein also provided by the invention, namely GAP65, GAP22, GAP21 and GAP12. The compositions of the present invention can be used in pharmaceutical preparations and nutritional preparations.

A pharmaceutical or nutritional composition consisting of amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) and at least one phosphorylated amino acid component selected from phosphoserine and phosphothreonine, in which the phosphorylated amino acid stabilizes the amorphous form of calcium carbonate and in which the phosphorylated amino acid has a molar ratio to calcium in the range of 0.01 to 0.5.
